This research paper investigates the prevalence and underlying causes of unintended pregnancies among women in Segamat, Malaysia. Drawing on data from over 4,000 participants, the study reveals that nearly one-third of women have experienced an unplanned pregnancy, often due to a profound lack of access to birth control. The findings highlight a heavy reliance on short-term contraceptive methods, like the oral pill, rather than more reliable long-acting options. Statistical analysis indicates that older age serves as a protective factor, while the absence of any current contraception significantly increases the risk of repeat incidents. Ultimately, the authors advocate for tailored health promotion and improved community-based counselling to address these geographical and educational barriers. Underdeveloped infrastructure and socio-demographic disparities remain primary drivers of these reproductive health challenges in rural regions.
